My approach focuses on gaining a clear understanding of your thoughts, emotions, behaviours and individual circumstances, providing a thorough assessment that can help identify difficulties and guide the most appropriate support.
If you are struggling emotionally, feeling overwhelmed, or simply know that something is not quite right, it can be difficult to know where to begin.
A comprehensive psychological assessment gives us the opportunity to understand what you are experiencing, why it may be happening and, most importantly, what can be done to help.
I believe effective therapy should begin with a clear understanding of the individual rather than assumptions or a one-size-fits-all approach.
I have almost 30 years’ experience working in psychological practice with adults, teenagers, children and couples experiencing a wide range of emotional, behavioural and psychological difficulties.
My assessments are thorough but also warm and collaborative. I want you to feel listened to and understood, not simply assessed.
I take time to understand your current difficulties alongside your history, relationships, experiences, patterns of thinking and behaviour, coping strategies and individual circumstances. Where appropriate, I may also use recognised psychological measures to help build a clearer clinical picture.
The aim is not simply to give you a label. It is to understand you as a whole person and identify the most appropriate way forward.
Your assessment is individually tailored and may explore:
What you are experiencing, when it began, what may have contributed to it and how it is affecting your everyday life.
Your mood, anxiety, thoughts, reactions, relationships, coping strategies and patterns of behaviour.
Relevant childhood, family, relationship, educational, occupational or traumatic experiences that may help us understand your current difficulties.
Where appropriate, areas such as attention, memory, reasoning, personality characteristics and psychological functioning may also be explored.
Just as importantly, we will discuss what you would like to be different and what you hope to achieve from treatment.
You Leave With Answers — Not Just an Appointment
Following your assessment, I will explain my clinical understanding of your difficulties and discuss the most appropriate next steps with you.
Where appropriate, this can include a diagnosis, psychological formulation, prognosis and personalised treatment recommendations.
A comprehensive written psychological assessment report can be provided the same day, giving you a clear record of the findings and recommendations.
You should leave with a much clearer understanding of:
Experience You Can Feel Confident In
Choosing a psychologist can feel like a significant decision, particularly when you are already struggling.
I bring almost three decades of clinical experience to my work and have received multiple professional awards recognising my work in psychology, OCD and solution-focused psychological treatment.
My practice has also received more than 145 five-star Google reviews from clients and families.
But qualifications and experience are only part of good psychological care. I believe people also need to feel comfortable, understood and hopeful that something can change.
You don’t need to know what diagnosis you have or even what type of therapy you need before contacting me.
That is part of the purpose of an assessment.
Together, we can establish a clearer understanding of what you are experiencing and develop a focused, individualised plan for moving forward.
You don’t have to arrive with the answers. That is where we begin.
