CLINICAL HYPNOTHERAPY

My approach uses clinical hypnotherapy to help you understand, access and change unhelpful patterns of thought and behaviour, supporting greater relaxation, confidence and positive change.

CLINICAL HYPNOTHERAPY

Create Positive Change by Working With the Patterns Behind Your Behaviour

Clinical hypnotherapy is a therapeutic approach that uses a relaxed, focused state of attention to help you work with thoughts, feelings and behavioural patterns.

At London Psychologist Centre, evidence-based clinical hypnotherapy is used as part of a solution-focused, personalised approach to help people make positive changes in areas such as anxiety, habits, confidence, phobias, smoking and weight management.

Hypnosis is not about losing control. You remain aware throughout the session and can stop or end the process whenever you choose.

HOW DOES CLINICAL HYPNOTHERAPY WORK?

A Relaxed State for Focused Therapeutic Change

During a hypnotherapy session, you are guided into a calm and deeply focused state. This is often described as similar to the natural state of being absorbed in a thought, daydream or activity.
In this relaxed state, attention can become more focused on the suggestions, images and ideas being explored during therapy. This can help you develop new associations and respond differently to patterns that may have become automatic.

The process may involve:

Guided Relaxation

Helping you settle into a calm and comfortable state where you can focus without unnecessary distractions.

Positive Suggestions

Introducing ideas and mental patterns that support the changes you want to make.

Visualisation

Rehearsing new responses and imagining yourself handling situations with greater confidence and control.

Behavioural Change

Connecting these new patterns with practical changes in your everyday life.

Hypnotherapy can also be combined with approaches such as Solution-Focused Counselling and Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) when this is appropriate for your goals.

WHAT CAN CLINICAL HYPNOTHERAPY HELP WITH?

Changing Unhelpful Patterns and Building New Responses

Clinical hypnotherapy may be used to support a range of concerns where thoughts, habits, emotions or automatic responses are getting in the way.

It may be helpful for:

  • Anxiety and stress.
  • Phobias and fears.
  • Smoking cessation.
  • Weight management and emotional eating.
  • Confidence and self-belief.
  • Unhelpful habits and behaviours.
  • Sleep difficulties.
  • Relaxation and emotional wellbeing.

The aim is not simply to help you relax during a session. It is to use that focused state as part of a wider therapeutic process that supports meaningful change in the way you think, feel and respond.

At London Psychologist Centre, the approach is tailored to your individual needs, with hypnotherapy used alongside other psychological techniques where appropriate.
